adult groups

Calvary has a lot of ways to connect with others. Give one of these groups a try!

With the recent restrictions on gatherings due to health concerns related to COVID 19, Calvary Presbyterian Church has been offering weekly study group opportunities online through the Zoom platform.

We encourage you to join with us as we study and explore how God’s word impacts our daily lives.

  • Current study: bible journaling

    October 28 - November 25

Art is a way to give extra meaning to something.  It brings what we feel to life.  God has given us the skills and tools we need to connect in our own way with Him.  Let’s take time to celebrate God’s presence in our lives by creating art together.  Join us any time between 7 and 8 pm (open house-style on zoom) Wednesday evenings, October 28 - November 26.

Bring your Bible, paper, a pencil or pen, and any art supplies you’d like to play with.

Faith & Racial Justice Challenge 9/9/2020-10/21/2020

Calvary would like to warmly invite our congregation, community, and guests to join us in a challenge series that explores faith and racial justice. Each Thursday you will receive an email including tasks that prompt reflection on our connection to racial wounds and God's desire for justice for all, especially black and brown people who have suffered societal injustice. If you choose to participate in the challenge you can do so individually, participate in the Wednesday night discussion, or combine these options to fit your schedule and needs.

We recognize that these topics are often heavy and emotional. We see that in our country right now. Because of this, and the fact that collaboration causes greater lasting change, we are offering an optional online discussion to share and support each other via zoom on Wednesdays at 7pm. The link for those discussions will be sent out on Wednesday mornings so it will be easy to locate. You do not need to attend all Wednesdays to join in the discussion.

If you want to be added to our email list for this, please contact the church office

As a people of faith, let us open our hearts and minds to God’s desire for a unified kingdom.

  • Previous Study: Exploring Books together

Do you have a book you have read that you'd like to talk about, share your impressions of, recommend to others in our congregation?

Week one: Historical fiction or nonfiction

    Week two: Biography

    Week three: Self-help/Faith

    Week four: Mysteries/Fantasy/Sci Fi

After our weekly Zoom "Book Talks," a list of books/authors we discussed, was sent out via email.  if you want a copy of any of the lists, you can contact the office.

  • prayers & squares quilting ministry

    (CURRENTLY SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID19)

Begun at Calvary in 1997, there is a long history of providing quilts and Prayer Bears to those who need some comfort and prayers while they cope with life's challenges. Each quilt whether large or small is tied with each knot representing a prayer for the recipient. You can request a quilt or stop by the church narthex and help yourself to a Prayer Bear, both are free, as this group is funded through donations of fabric, batting, bears, and financial gifts.

By giving to those who are hurting, we are showing the love of Christ to others.

Calvary's chapter of Prayers & Squares is part of the National Organization.

Please contact the Church Office for more information.

  • women's hikers - sports ministry

    (CURRENTLY SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID19)

Hiking on regional trails to enjoy God's creation and beauty is a weekly event for this group of women. Every Wednesday they leave from the church parking lot for their adventure. During fall they depart at 8:30 a.m. In winter they depart at 9:00 a.m. During summer the hikes are usually longer and the group leaves at 8:00 a.m. and take a sack lunch.

If you love the outdoors and getting some exercise, wear your hiking boots, bring water, and join this group. All women are welcome!
