Where can I park?
There are two parking lots on the church campus: one entered via the alley from Marshall Avenue on the North or Myrtle Avenue on the South. The other lower level parking lot is accessed from Wells Street on the East. Or you can also park along the west side of Porter Street, or in the City Hall parking lot on Myrtle Avenue.
Where is the door?
If you enter via the alley from Myrtle Avenue, the closest door is the glass Fellowship Hall door, just head inside, make two rights and head up the stairs straight into the sanctuary. If you are entering via Porter Street, just climb the stairs next to the handicapped ramp and enter the Lobby through the wooden main doors.
What about Handicapped access?
We have three designated handicapped parking spaces by the glass Fellowship Hall door. There are two exterior ramps to enter the building: one by the glass Fellowship Hall door, or one on the Porter Street side. Once inside, we have an elevator to take you between the two floors.
What is the worship service like?
Sunday Morning Worship at 9:30 a.m. is a celebration service. You'll be greeted with a handshake by the Ushers and handed a bulletin. Sit wherever you like. The order of worship, hymn numbers, and announcements are printed in the bulletin for your reference. Early in the service we Pass the Peace of Christ by shaking hands of those around and introducing ourselves. The Chancel Choir sings and is accompanied by our pianist. Prayers, receiving of the offering, singing of the Lord's prayer, and scripture readings are before the sermon. The service is concluded with everyone holding hands and singing "They Will Know We are Christians by Our Love."
When is Communion served?
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. Lay Leaders pass trays of bread and juice among the people in the pews. The "body of Christ" is taken individually, but the cup is held and when all are served, the "blood of Christ" consumed corporately. (A gluten free option is always available.)
What if I need Special Assistance?
We offer hearing devices, additional seat cushions for the pews, large print Bibles, large print bulletins and large print hymnals. Just ask an Usher for assistance.
What about kids?
We have on call Nursery care for infants through 3 years in the Fellowship Hall run by trained staff. The children are signed in and out. There is Children's Church for 4 year-olds through 5th grade, or this age group may stay in worship and use one of the Children's Worship Bags that can be found at the Information Table in the Foyer.
What happens after Worship?
Coffee and snacks are served in the Fellowship Hall, providing a time to get to know others. There is also Adult Sunday School available to participate in, if you so desire.
There are many ways you can become part of the Calvary family of faith. Please fill out a Visitor Information Card and place it in the offering plate, so we can get to know you. Or you can fill out a Prayer Request Card and place it in the offering plate, so we may pray for you. Also stop by the Information Table in the foyer for more information about Calvary.
